Grand Forks, ND – A cold front sweeping through eastern North Dakota is bringing gusty north winds and sharply colder temperatures to the region, with conditions expected to remain brisk through Monday evening.

According to the National Weather Service in Grand Forks, the front passed through early Sunday, triggering sustained winds from the north at 10 to 25 mph and dropping high temperatures to the mid-30s to mid-40s across the Red River Valley. Lows Sunday night are forecast between 14°F and 20°F under mostly clear skies.

The temperature shift marks a noticeable departure from recent spring-like conditions. Residents in cities including Fargo, Devils Lake, and Thief River Falls will experience Monday highs struggling to reach the mid-30s. Wind chills in the early morning hours may dip into the single digits.

Local officials advise residents to limit prolonged outdoor activity, secure loose outdoor items due to breezy conditions, and ensure pets have adequate shelter.

This system follows a relatively mild late March, making the cold front a sudden shift for early April. The NWS reports skies will remain clear to partly cloudy through Monday night with calmer winds expected by Tuesday.
