Grand Forks, ND – A severe weather threat looms over Grand Forks on Wednesday, with isolated severe thunderstorms expected to hit the area. Residents are advised to stay alert as the storms could bring quarter-sized hail and winds reaching up to 60 mph.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Grand Forks, a cold front will move through the region Wednesday afternoon into the evening. This front may trigger isolated severe thunderstorms, particularly near the frontal boundary. The primary risks include hail, which could damage vehicles and property, and strong winds that may cause power outages and hazardous driving conditions.

The NWS urges residents to secure loose outdoor items and review emergency plans now. “Make sure you have multiple ways to receive warnings, and know where to seek shelter,” the NWS advises. The risk of tornadoes is low but not entirely ruled out.

Looking ahead, the five-day forecast shows cooler temperatures with highs in the 60s and low 70s through the weekend. After the storms pass, Thursday and Friday will bring calmer, sunny weather, offering some relief from the mid-week storm threat.
