Grand Forks, ND –
The National Weather Service in Grand Forks is warning of hazardous travel across portions of eastern North Dakota and west-central Minnesota today, as a winter system brings heavy snow, strong winds, and reduced visibility through the evening hours.

Forecasters say the heaviest snowfall will occur across the southern Red River Valley, including areas near Fargo and Wahpeton, where 4 to 6 inches of snow are expected. Farther north, including Grand Forks, totals will taper to around 1–2 inches.

Winds gusting up to 40 mph will create blowing and drifting snow, leading to dangerous driving conditions between noon and 8 p.m. Tuesday. Visibility could drop sharply at times, making travel difficult or hazardous, especially on open rural roads.

The NWS urges Thanksgiving travelers to delay trips until conditions improve late tonight.
