Grand Forks, North Dakota – Isolated severe thunderstorms could impact eastern North Dakota late Sunday night into Monday, bringing damaging winds and large hail to cities like Fargo, Grand Forks, and Devils Lake.
According to the National Weather Service in Grand Forks, a Level 1 severe risk is in place across much of northeastern North Dakota from late Sunday through Monday. The primary hazards include wind gusts up to 60 mph and hail potentially reaching the size of quarters. Tornadoes are not expected, but forecasters urge residents to stay alert.
Cities such as Valley City, Thief River Falls, and Detroit Lakes are within the risk zone, where isolated cells may briefly intensify. While the severe threat is limited, any strong storm that develops could disrupt overnight travel or cause brief power outages.
Residents should have multiple ways to receive warnings and prepare for possible severe weather by securing loose outdoor items and planning where to shelter if a warning is issued.
More updates will be issued if the risk level increases. Alerts remain in effect through Monday afternoon.
