Grand Forks, ND – The National Weather Service is warning residents across eastern North Dakota and northwestern Minnesota to prepare for the possibility of severe thunderstorms Thursday afternoon and evening.

According to the US National Weather Service in Grand Forks, the area faces a 2 out of 5 risk level for severe weather. Forecasters say isolated to scattered severe thunderstorms could develop late Thursday, bringing hazards that include hail as large as golf balls, wind gusts reaching 70 mph, and the potential for isolated tornadoes.

The threat window is expected to open in the late afternoon and continue into the evening hours.
