Grand Forks, N.D. – Parts of eastern North Dakota will see widespread, soaking rain through Tuesday night, with some areas like Lisbon, Wahpeton, and Cooperstown facing up to a 95% chance of precipitation.
According to the National Weather Service in Grand Forks, rain will begin moving north from the southern tier late Monday morning, reaching Grand Forks and surrounding areas by early evening. Lisbon and Wahpeton are already seeing elevated rain chances Monday morning, with 85% to 95% probability lasting into Tuesday morning. High rain potential will also extend northward into Devils Lake, Cando, and Roseau overnight.
Fargo, Valley City, and Hillsboro could see rain totals climb quickly, with 80% to 90% likelihood during peak commute hours. Temperatures will remain unseasonably cool—only reaching the mid-40s to low 50s in most areas Tuesday. Travel may be impacted on I-29, U.S. Highway 2, and local roadways, particularly during the Monday evening and Tuesday morning rush hours.
Residents should limit non-essential travel, secure outdoor items, and ensure drainage systems are clear. While no major flooding is forecast at this time, ponding is possible in low-lying areas.
Rain chances taper off by early Wednesday, with a warming trend expected into the Memorial Day weekend.
