North Dakota Prepares for Freezing Rain and Blowing Snow

Bismarck, ND – A winter weather advisory is in effect for much of North Dakota, with freezing rain, blowing snow, and hazardous travel conditions expected Wednesday afternoon into Thursday. Counties affected include Golden Valley, Stark, Burleigh, and McLean.

According to the National Weather Service, freezing rain is anticipated starting at 3 p.m. Wednesday, with ice accumulations of up to a few hundredths of an inch. Gusting winds as high as 55 mph may reduce visibility, particularly impacting Wednesday evening and Thursday morning commutes. Total snow accumulations are forecast at up to two inches in some areas.

Residents are urged to drive cautiously and monitor local road conditions by calling 511.
