Grand Forks, ND–MN – A frosty haze settles over the Red River Valley this morning as temperatures hover near 24°F, feeling closer to 15° in the breeze. The cold, damp air stings cheeks and glazes windshields — a reminder that November’s early winter tease is here. But warmer days are coming quickly.
According to the National Weather Service in Grand Forks, Veterans Day will bring much milder conditions, with highs near 47°F and full sunshine returning across both North Dakota and northwest Minnesota. The south wind will pick up by Tuesday afternoon, helping temperatures rise through midweek. By Wednesday, highs in the upper 40s to near 50°F are expected — a swing of nearly 25 degrees from today’s chill.
Travelers and residents can expect mostly dry skies through Friday, though gusty winds up to 30 mph may develop during the warm-up. This stretch of calmer, sunnier weather should hold until late week, when early signals of another cold front appear on weather models.
That next system could bring rain or a light rain-snow mix to parts of eastern North Dakota by the weekend — a possible prelude to a broader late-November cooldown before Thanksgiving. For now, it’s a week of thawing roads, brighter skies, and a brief break from the biting cold that kicked off the week.
