Grand Forks, ND – Scattered thunderstorms could bring lightning to parts of eastern North Dakota and northwest Minnesota today, with additional storm chances carrying into the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service in Grand Forks, scattered storms are possible Wednesday morning, October 1, with the highest chance of activity before midday. Lightning is the primary hazard, though no severe weather is currently expected.

The forecast shows calmer conditions Thursday, with mostly sunny skies and highs in the mid-80s. By Friday night and into Saturday, shower and thunderstorm chances return. While widespread severe weather is not anticipated, forecasters warn that any storm could produce heavy rain and lightning.

Extended forecasts indicate unsettled conditions continuing into early next week. Showers are likely Saturday night, with rain chances persisting through Tuesday. Daytime highs will remain seasonably warm in the upper 70s to low 80s before cooling slightly into the 60s by Sunday.

Spotter activation is not expected at this time, but residents are encouraged to monitor updates, especially if traveling during periods of potential storms.
