Investigators said a 2006 Freightliner semi-truck was disabled on the westbound shoulder and partially in the roadway with emergency triangles and hazard lights activated.
A 2008 Dodge Ram pickup had stopped nose-to-nose with the semi to provide assistance when a westbound 2022 Chevrolet Silverado struck the rear of the semi-trailer. The driver of the Silverado, identified only as a 19-year-old male from Bottineau, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Dodge Ram’s driver, a 56-year-old man from Minot, and his 48-year-old male passenger, also from Minot, were not injured, troopers said. The Freightliner was unoccupied at the time of the crash.
