RHINELANDER, WI – The National Weather Service in Green Bay has issued a Dense Fog Advisory for north-central Wisconsin early Thursday, warning of visibility as low as one-quarter mile in some areas.

The advisory, issued at 2:15 a.m. October 30, 2025, remains in effect through 9 a.m. The NWS noted that freezing fog may form in spots where temperatures dip below freezing — potentially creating slick conditions on bridges and overpasses.

Affected areas include Rhinelander, Park Falls, Ironwood, and surrounding communities, with patchy fog extending southeast toward Wausau and Stevens Point.

Motorists are urged to slow down, use low beam headlights, and allow extra distance between vehicles. Visibility could fluctuate rapidly, particularly on Highways 8, 51, and 70, where dense patches of fog are expected.

Conditions should gradually improve by mid- to late morning as temperatures rise and the fog dissipates.
