Dallas, TX – The National Weather Service in Fort Worth has issued a Flood Watch for much of North and Central Texas — including the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex, Waco, and Temple — effective from Friday evening through Saturday afternoon.

Forecasters warn that 2 to 3 inches of rain are likely across the region, with localized totals up to 5 inches, particularly along and east of the I-35 corridor. The combination of saturated soils and repeated rounds of thunderstorms could lead to urban flooding, swollen creeks, and rising rivers.

According to the NWS, flooding may occur in low-lying and poor-drainage areas, and flash flooding is possible where storms train over the same locations. Heaviest rainfall is expected late Friday night into early Saturday, with showers tapering by Saturday afternoon.

Residents are urged to monitor local forecasts, avoid driving through flooded roadways, and be prepared to move to higher ground if flood warnings are issued.

This system follows a week of unsettled weather and could bring the most significant rainfall of the month for parts of North and Central Texas.
