ATLANTA, Ga. – A quiet stretch of weather across much of North and Central Georgia will wrap up this weekend as tropical moisture pushes in, sharply increasing storm chances into early next week. By Monday, the likelihood of thunderstorms could reach 70% in many areas.
According to the National Weather Service in Peachtree City, the first signs of change will appear Sunday afternoon when scattered storms begin moving into the region. The most widespread activity is expected Monday and Tuesday, bringing periods of heavy rain, lightning, and gusty winds. While severe weather isn’t guaranteed, the unsettled pattern will limit sunshine and keep skies mostly cloudy.
Humidity will also climb after Sunday, making the air feel stickier, though temperatures should remain near normal thanks to cloud cover. Residents across cities including Atlanta, Macon, and Athens should watch for localized downpours that could slow travel and briefly reduce visibility. Outdoor plans early next week may need backup options.
Storm chances will taper slightly mid- to late week but are expected to linger through Thursday. More updates are likely as new data comes in.
