Lexington, NC – A Davidson County woman was arrested Monday after deputies allegedly discovered 11 sick dogs at her residence during an active animal cruelty investigation.

According to the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the Parks Pond Drive area on June 16 following reports of animal welfare concerns. Upon arriving at the scene, investigators allegedly found Kimberly Howard in possession of 11 domestic dogs, despite a prior court order barring her from having any animals.

Authorities said Howard had previously been convicted of multiple animal-related crimes and county ordinance violations in January. As part of her sentencing, she was prohibited from owning, caring for, or possessing any domestic animals.

Deputies removed all 11 dogs from the residence. Howard was arrested and now faces multiple charges, including one felony count of animal cruelty, 10 misdemeanor counts of animal cruelty, one count of failing to provide current rabies vaccinations, and one county ordinance violation for exceeding the legal dog ownership limit. The ordinance prohibits having more than six dogs that are not spayed or neutered.

Anyone with information related to this investigation or similar cases is urged to contact Deputy C. Soles or Cpl. K. Daniel at the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office Animal Control Division at 336-242-2105.
