Raleigh, NC – A winter storm warning remains in effect for central and eastern North Carolina until 1 p.m. Thursday, bringing snow, sleet, and ice that could make travel dangerous.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Raleigh, affected areas include Wake, Johnston, Wilson, Nash, Edgecombe, Wayne, Sampson, Person, Granville, Vance, Warren, Halifax, and Franklin counties. The storm is expected to bring up to 4 inches of additional snow, along with up to two-tenths of an inch of ice accumulation in some areas.

The worst conditions are expected Wednesday evening through midnight, with hazardous road conditions continuing into Thursday morning. Bridges and overpasses will be especially slick.
