North Carolina – North Carolina residents should prepare for a wet weekend as showers and thunderstorms are expected to affect the region, particularly along the coast. The forecast, issued by the US National Weather Service in Newport/Morehead City, indicates that thunderstorms could become strong to severe, with damaging wind gusts posing the greatest threat.

According to the latest update, the showers are likely to begin early Saturday along the coast before moving inland later in the afternoon as the sea breeze pushes the system further. The chances of precipitation range between 24% to 55% across various coastal areas, with the highest likelihood in places like Jacksonville and New Bern, where the probability is 55%.

The rest of the weekend will see continued rain and thunderstorm activity, with Sunday holding a 60% chance of rain across much of the region. As the week progresses, the rain is expected to persist, with Monday showing a 70% chance of rain, tapering slightly on Tuesday with a 60% chance, and picking up again mid-week.

Residents should remain cautious and stay updated with the latest weather information, particularly in areas with a higher likelihood of severe weather. It is advised to secure outdoor objects and be prepared for possible disruptions.
