Wilmington, North Carolina – Warm air and gusty winds are sweeping across southeastern North Carolina today, bringing breezy conditions and highs in the mid-80s that could affect outdoor activities.
According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, Thursday’s highs will reach 84 to 86 degrees, with wind gusts between 25 to 30 mph expected throughout the day. Inland areas like Whiteville and Elizabethtown will see similar warmth, while coastal towns such as Southport and Surf City will stay just slightly cooler.
Residents should secure outdoor items, be cautious on bridges and open roadways, and stay hydrated during outdoor work or recreation. Light debris and pollen movement may also increase due to sustained breezes.
Looking ahead, temperatures will remain in the low 80s through the weekend, with a slight chance of showers by Sunday. Inland areas may drop into the upper 70s Friday and Saturday before rebounding.
