North Carolina Weather Warning: Severe Storms, Wind Gusts Predicted Through 8PM

Morehead City, NC – Thunderstorms have recently strengthened across northern sections of North Carolina and are expected to continue impacting these areas for at least another one to three hours. Residents are advised to stay weather-aware and take necessary precautions this evening.

According to the US National Weather Service in Newport/Morehead City, thunderstorms are currently ongoing north of the Albemarle Sound and near the Pamlico and Pungo Rivers. The weather service warns that the risk of thunderstorms may increase for areas from Plymouth to Columbia, as well as from Washington to Swanquarter, through 8 p.m. tonight.

Potential impacts include frequent lightning, strong wind gusts, and dangerous boating conditions. Residents in the affected areas are urged to remain vigilant and be ready to take action should a thunderstorm threaten their vicinity.
