Wilmington, NC – Residents in Wilmington are enjoying unseasonably warm temperatures today as highs reach near 72 degrees ahead of a cold front. However, those celebrating New Year’s Day on Wednesday should prepare for cooler, breezy conditions as temperatures drop into the 50s.
According to the National Weather Service, a cold front will move through the area tonight, bringing gusty northwest winds and significantly lower temperatures. Overnight lows will dip to around 46 degrees. By Wednesday, skies will clear with a high of 58 degrees, but gusts could reach up to 22 mph.
The weather remains sunny and dry for the rest of the week, with Thursday’s high reaching 52 degrees and nighttime lows dropping to the low 30s. Friday offers slightly warmer conditions, peaking at 55 degrees before a colder Saturday with highs in the mid-40s.
Drivers are urged to exercise caution tonight and early Wednesday, as gusty winds and falling temperatures may create hazardous conditions, especially near bridges and overpasses on key routes such as US-17 and I-140.
Looking ahead to the weekend, conditions stay clear but chilly, making it an ideal time for outdoor activities if properly bundled up. Sunday will see temperatures in the upper 40s, with the chance of showers returning Monday.
