North Carolina – A warm and sunny Wednesday will give way to spring showers by Thursday as North Carolina transitions into the new season.

According to the National Weather Service, Wednesday will see sunny skies and a high near 77°F across much of the state. Winds will remain light, shifting to the south by the afternoon. The dry weather will continue through Wednesday night, with mostly clear skies and lows around 51°F.

Thursday marks the official start of spring, but it will also bring an increased chance of rain. Showers are expected after 2 p.m., with a 60% chance of precipitation. Although rainfall totals are expected to be light, drivers should be prepared for wet roads, especially during the evening commute.

Thursday night, rain is likely before 8 p.m., with partly cloudy skies and temperatures dropping to around 41°F. Friday will bring drier conditions, with mostly sunny skies and a cooler high near 62°F.

Looking ahead to the weekend, temperatures will stay mild. Saturday will be sunny with a high of 69°F, followed by mostly clear skies at night with lows in the mid-40s. Sunday will see another warm day, reaching 71°F, before clouds increase Monday with a 40% chance of showers.

Residents should enjoy the warm midweek weather before preparing for potential wet conditions as spring officially begins.
