Raleigh, NC – Central North Carolina just wrapped up one of its driest and warmest Novembers in recent memory, with Greensboro and Fayetteville both landing in the top 10 for least precipitation on record.

According to the National Weather Service in Raleigh, monthly rainfall totals at key climate sites came in between 0.5 and 1 inch—nearly 2 to 3 inches below normal. Greensboro only picked up 0.52 inches of rain, marking its 9th driest November on record, while Fayetteville’s 0.55 inches ranked as its 7th driest.

Temperatures also ran 1 to 2 degrees above normal. Raleigh recorded an average high of 65.6°F, nearly 3 degrees warmer than usual. Fayetteville reached 79°F on November 16, while Greensboro topped out at 75°F on the 9th.

This unusually dry pattern has raised concerns about short-term drought impacts, especially for agriculture and outdoor burn conditions. Residents should stay mindful of ongoing fire danger and continue to limit open flames until wetter conditions return.

More updates are expected if the dry spell continues into December.
