New Bern, NC – After a stretch of mild weather, eastern North Carolina will see a noticeable change by Sunday night as a cold front brings showers, cooler air, and a return to fall-like conditions, according to the National Weather Service in Newport/Morehead City.
High temperatures will climb into the mid to upper 70s Saturday and Sunday, well above normal for mid-October. A 30–40% chance of rain arrives Sunday night, with a few rumbles of thunder possible as the front moves through.
Behind the front, temperatures will drop back into the upper 60s to low 70s by midweek, with another cold front expected to arrive around Wednesday, pushing highs below 70°F once again.
Forecasters say the weekend will remain mostly sunny and pleasant ahead of the front, making it a good time for outdoor plans before cooler air settles in for the workweek.
