Wilmington, NC – Coastal residents in southeastern North Carolina are urged to stay alert for minor flooding risks along the shoreline as a Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect Monday morning. Rough marine conditions and a Small Craft Advisory also continue offshore through Sunday night, with conditions expected to improve gradually into the week.
According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, strong high pressure to the north will maintain predominantly dry weather conditions today and Monday, though minor coastal flooding during the early morning high tide could cause water levels to rise in vulnerable coastal areas. Residents should plan accordingly, especially those in low-lying regions or along roadways prone to flooding.
The forecast calls for partly cloudy skies today with highs in the low to mid-60s. Northeast winds of 8 to 10 mph will bring occasional gusts up to 16 mph before calming tonight. Monday’s temperatures will climb to around 70 degrees under mostly sunny skies, offering a pleasant start to the week.
Further into the week, a mix of sun and clouds will dominate, with showers potentially returning late Wednesday into Thursday. High temperatures will hover in the mid-60s to low 70s, while overnight lows will dip into the 40s and 50s.
Drivers and boaters should remain cautious through Monday morning, particularly near the coast where tidal impacts are most significant. Mariners are advised to avoid venturing into the rough offshore waters until the Small Craft Advisory expires.
Stay tuned to the latest updates from the National Weather Service for changing conditions as the week progresses.
