Wilmington, N.C. – Cloudy skies and a chance of isolated thunderstorms could bring minor disruptions to parts of southeastern North Carolina on Thursday, with temperatures climbing into the low to mid-80s.

According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, a wetter pattern is beginning to take shape, with partly to mostly cloudy conditions and pop-up showers possible through the afternoon. The risk of isolated thunderstorms will affect cities like Wilmington (high of 82°F), Lumberton (83°F), and Florence (84°F), especially during peak heating hours.

Myrtle Beach, just across the border in South Carolina, will stay slightly cooler with a high near 78°F, but rain chances remain for the coastal city as well. While severe weather is not expected, any thunderstorm could bring brief downpours or lightning that may affect afternoon commutes or outdoor activities.

Drivers should watch for slick roads and shifting visibility during any showers. Residents are advised to keep mobile devices charged in case of lightning-related outages and remain weather-aware as rain chances increase heading into the weekend.

Additional showers are possible through Friday, with a greater likelihood of widespread rain by the weekend. Updates from the NWS will continue as the pattern evolves.
