Raleigh, NC – Freezing temperatures and light snow flurries are expected tonight as a cold front moves through North Carolina. Residents in the Southwest Piedmont should prepare for slick road conditions and bundle up for lows in the teens.
According to the National Weather Service, temperatures will drop into the upper teens to low 20s overnight, with a chance of snow flurries between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m. Wind chills could make it feel even colder, reaching as low as 16°F. Those traveling overnight or during early morning hours should exercise caution on roads, especially bridges and overpasses.
Tuesday brings slightly warmer conditions, with sunny skies and a high near 43°F. However, wind chill values will remain low, making it feel much colder than the actual temperature. Clear skies are expected Tuesday night, with lows dropping to around 22°F.
The cold weather will persist throughout the week. Wednesday will see sunny skies and a high of 47°F, with a mild warming trend on Thursday as highs climb to the upper 50s. However, by Friday, the region will return to chilly conditions, with daytime highs around 42°F and nighttime lows nearing 23°F.
