Raleigh, NC – Sunday starts with chilly rain across much of central North Carolina, while areas along I-95 remain warmer. This evening brings cooler air and a 20% chance of scattered drizzle, especially in the Triad region. A gradual clearing is expected to begin Monday, but dense fog could slow early-week commutes.
According to the National Weather Service, today’s high will reach just 55°F in Raleigh, while highs will remain much cooler in northwestern counties, where rain chances peak. Southeastern regions, including Sampson County, may avoid significant rainfall but will see cloudy conditions. Tonight, temperatures dip to 44°F, with calm winds overnight.
Monday will provide much-needed relief with partly sunny skies and highs nearing 62°F, making it the warmest day of the coming week. However, cooler air returns by Wednesday alongside a 40% chance of afternoon showers and breezy conditions. Temperatures will spike briefly into the low 70s before falling again midweek.
Drivers should prepare for dense fog Monday and Tuesday nights, particularly along major routes such as I-40 and I-95. Reduced visibility may lead to hazardous travel conditions during peak morning hours.
The extended forecast brings another round of light showers on Thursday, with highs near 57°F before clearing late in the week. Skies are expected to remain sunny but cooler heading into the weekend, with highs in the upper 40s by Friday.
