North Carolina – Low clouds and pockets of fog hang over Raleigh this morning as warm, humid air settles across the Triangle, hinting that spring weather is already pushing into the region.

Drivers across I-40, I-440, and Capital Boulevard may encounter brief visibility drops where fog gathers near wooded areas and rivers. Roads remain mostly dry, but visibility can shift quickly during the morning commute.

According to the National Weather Service, fog early will give way to partial sunshine as temperatures surge to around 79°F across Raleigh today. Southwest winds between 5 and 11 mph may gust near 20 mph, adding a mild breeze that reinforces the spring feel across central North Carolina.

Conditions stay quiet tonight with partly cloudy skies and lows near 60°F. The warmth continues Friday with highs near 81°F, several degrees above early March averages.

Saturday keeps the spring pattern going. Sunshine and scattered clouds push highs near 80°F, ideal for outdoor plans across Wake County and the broader Research Triangle.

Weather begins shifting late Saturday night as moisture increases. By Sunday, scattered showers develop with a 60 percent chance of rain and the possibility of thunderstorms during the afternoon and evening.

Sunday also brings the Daylight Saving Time change, when clocks jump forward at 2 a.m., delivering longer daylight evenings for the weeks ahead. March typically adds nearly 90 minutes of daylight across North Carolina by the end of the month.

Meteorologists are already watching a stronger warming trend next week. Highs climb into the upper 70s and lower 80s through midweek, reinforcing early spring vibes across the Southeast.

If storms develop Sunday afternoon, brief heavy rain and lightning could affect outdoor events and travel. Keep an eye on changing skies late in the weekend.
