Belville, N.C. – Scattered thunderstorms could rattle parts of coastal North Carolina Tuesday afternoon into Tuesday night, threatening travel on US-17 and potentially disrupting evening plans across Brunswick and New Hanover counties.

According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, a weak front moving through the region will spark storm activity after 2 p.m. Tuesday, with the highest rain and thunder chances arriving by 8 p.m. Expect highs around 84°F on Tuesday, followed by muggy conditions overnight as temperatures fall to the low 70s.

Monday will remain dry and mostly sunny, peaking near 86°F. Winds will shift from the north to the south later in the day, setting the stage for more humid air to move in ahead of Tuesday’s storm potential.

Here’s what that means for Belville and nearby areas: If you’re traveling along US-17 or near Wilmington International Airport late Tuesday, plan for delays, wet roads, and reduced visibility. Lightning and brief heavy downpours are possible, especially during the evening commute.

By Wednesday, the heat intensifies again, with highs expected to top 90°F under partly sunny skies and another 30% chance of late-day storms. Thursday looks quieter, offering a return to sunshine with highs in the mid-80s.
