North Carolina’s Crystal Coast starts gray and damp, with patchy fog clinging to low spots near bridges and marshland. Drivers crossing the Newport River and heading along U.S. 70 are seeing reduced visibility early, though skies gradually brighten late this morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Morehead City, patchy fog will lift by midmorning, followed by mostly cloudy skies turning sunnier this afternoon. Highs reach 57 degrees today with calm winds becoming west near 5 to 7 mph. Conditions remain quiet through tonight, with lows near 44 as clouds increase.

The warmup accelerates Wednesday. Highs jump to 66 degrees under mostly cloudy skies, and southwest winds could gust as high as 24 mph. By Wednesday night, clouds thicken with lows near 51.

Rain chances return Thursday. A 30 percent chance of rain develops during the day with highs near 67, followed by another 30 percent chance Thursday night. Showers become more likely Friday, with a 50 percent chance of rain and highs near 69. Wet pavement may slow traffic along Arendell Street and N.C. 24 during peak travel times. Keep umbrellas ready by late week.

Saturday stays mild with highs in the low 60s and another 50 percent chance of rain. Sunday cools to the upper 50s with scattered showers possible before colder air arrives Sunday night. Lows dip near 31, and if roads remain wet, isolated slick spots could develop inland.

Looking ahead, the 6–10 day outlook favors above-normal temperatures across much of the Southeast. A stretch of spring warmth may build in from Monday into late February.
