North Carolina – Sunshine is breaking through crisp morning air across the Triangle, but clouds and steady rain are already lining up for the weekend. The breeze feels cool now, yet a quick warmup is on the way before wet roads return Sunday.
According to the National Weather Service in Raleigh, temperatures sit in the low 40s late this morning after an early low near 32°F. Highs climb to 52°F with mostly sunny skies. Clearer skies tonight allow readings to fall to around 27°F, cold enough for patchy frost on elevated surfaces.
Friday stays bright with a high near 51°F. By Valentine’s Day Saturday, temperatures surge to around 60°F under partly sunny skies. It will feel mild and comfortable for dinner plans, though clouds thicken late.
Sunday brings the biggest impact. Showers become likely before early afternoon, with an 80% chance of rain. Highs reach 57°F, but steady rainfall could reduce visibility along I-40 and U.S. 1. Plan extra time if traveling. Ponding on roads is possible in heavier bursts.
Rain continues into Sunday night with temperatures near 46°F. While this system favors rain locally, colder air wrapping north of the system may bring snow to parts of the Great Lakes.
Looking ahead, NOAA’s 6–10 day outlook highlights above-normal temperatures across the Southeast. Highs could push into the lower 60s by Tuesday and even upper 60s by midweek. Spring vibes are building.
