RALEIGH, N.C. – Warm afternoons and clear nights will dominate the Raleigh area this weekend, giving residents a taste of steady fall weather before showers arrive midweek. Drivers along I-40 and commuters across Wake County should enjoy smooth travel conditions through Sunday, with no rain in sight until later in the week.

According to the National Weather Service, Raleigh can expect highs near 89 today before dipping into the mid-60s overnight. Sunshine continues Saturday with a high near 87, while light northeast winds return Sunday, keeping daytime temperatures in the low 80s. Nights will be noticeably cooler, dropping into the low 60s by early Monday.

For outdoor plans, the weekend looks ideal across the Triangle. Events at PNC Arena or NC State’s campus should see comfortable conditions, but residents should still carry water during peak afternoon heat. Calm winds make boating or hiking at Jordan Lake and Umstead State Park especially favorable through Sunday.

Clouds build late Monday into Tuesday night as a shift in weather patterns brings rain chances back by Wednesday. The midweek system could create slick roads across I-40 and U.S. 70, especially during the morning commute. While rainfall amounts appear light, the return of precipitation may interrupt outdoor activities and evening events.

Conditions remain stable until midweek, but residents should stay alert for updated advisories as showers move into the region.
