Jacksonville, NC – Eastern North Carolina begins the week on a warm and quiet note before a strong pre-holiday cold front brings rain and a sharp temperature drop by midweek, according to the National Weather Service in Newport/Morehead City.
According to the agency, Sunday and Monday will feature mostly sunny skies with highs in the mid to upper 60s, offering mild and calm conditions ahead of the coming changes. Morning lows will range from the low to mid-40s, keeping the early-week pattern comfortable.
Rain chances return late Tuesday as moisture increases ahead of the incoming front. Highs climb into the lower 70s, but showers are expected to develop overnight and continue into Wednesday, which also reaches the mid-70s before temperatures tumble behind the front. Forecasters currently highlight a 30% chance of rain both Tuesday night and Wednesday, though coverage may increase as the system approaches.
The most significant weather shift arrives late Wednesday into Thursday as much colder air settles in. Highs drop into the 50s for Thanksgiving Day, with lows falling into the low to mid-30s, marking a dramatic departure from the early-week warmth. The cooler pattern is expected to continue into the weekend, with highs in the lower to middle 50s Friday and Saturday.
The National Weather Service advises residents and holiday travelers to monitor forecasts closely as the strong cold front may impact road conditions and timing for Thanksgiving plans.
