Charlotte, North Carolina – Storms could rattle parts of western North Carolina Friday night, just ahead of a hot, mostly sunny weekend across the Charlotte metro.
According to the National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg, a marginal risk for large hail and strong wind gusts begins late Friday near the North Carolina mountains. While confidence in the exact strength and speed of these storms remains uncertain, conditions may briefly turn severe overnight into Saturday, especially west of I-77.
Charlotte will likely stay dry, but cooler air aloft could still spark isolated thunderstorm activity late Friday evening. Winds will be light during the day, with a high near 91°F under partly sunny skies. Roads like I-77 and US-321 may see brief slowdowns if showers push further east than expected.
By Saturday morning, any lingering showers should move out early, giving way to mostly sunny skies and a high near 89°F. Winds will remain light but could gust up to 28 mph midday. Sunday looks even hotter, with highs around 86°F and only a few clouds.
Looking ahead:
- Monday: Mostly sunny, high near 86°F
- Tuesday: Slight storm chance in the evening, high near 85°F
- Wednesday: Higher storm chance (30%), cooler with a high of 75°F
- Thursday: Breezy and mild, high near 73°F
