Raleigh, NC – Residents across central North Carolina woke up to damp conditions Tuesday, but forecasters say improvement is on the way later in the day.

According to the National Weather Service Raleigh, light rain and drizzle will gradually taper off by the afternoon as low clouds begin to lift. Northeasterly winds of 10 to 15 mph are expected, with occasional gusts reaching 15 to 25 mph.

Temperatures will remain cooler than normal, with highs in the lower to middle 70s. Tonight, lows are forecast between 60 and 65 degrees.

The weather service advises residents to plan for a slow, gray start to the day, but conditions should improve steadily into the afternoon and evening. While no significant hazards are expected, gusty winds may cause minor inconveniences, particularly for high-profile vehicles.

Looking ahead, forecasters say the region can expect gradual warming later in the week, but Tuesday will remain a cooler, breezy day overall.
