Raleigh, North Carolina – Storms could drench the Raleigh area by midday Wednesday, disrupting commutes and raising the risk of flash flooding along major roads like I-40 and U.S. 1.
According to the National Weather Service, rain is likely before 8 a.m. Wednesday, with thunderstorms developing between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. Showers will continue through the afternoon, with another round possible after 2 p.m. Wednesday’s high will hit 78°F before winds shift westward at 5 mph.
Wake County residents should prepare for up to half an inch of rain and possible lightning. If driving, allow extra time and avoid water-covered roads. Expect similar storm conditions Thursday afternoon, when more showers and scattered thunderstorms are expected after 2 p.m., pushing highs to around 82°F.
Friday remains stormy, with a 60% chance of rain and thunderstorms throughout the day and into the evening. Highs will climb to near 80°F, with heavier rainfall expected before 8 p.m.
