North Carolina – Thick, silvery fog hangs low over Charlotte this morning, softening headlights and swallowing skylines before sunrise. Air sits cool and still near 37°F, just cold enough for misty windshields and damp roads that glisten under the early morning lights. Visibility is reduced in spots, especially across Interstate 77, 85, and the I-485 beltline, prompting drivers to slow down and use low beams until conditions improve by late morning.

Meteorologists with the National Weather Service Greenville-Spartanburg note dense fog may persist into midmorning Sunday, especially in low-lying valleys. Once it lifts, skies turn partly sunny with highs near 50°F, giving the region a calm break before another rain-bearing system pushes in by early Monday.

Expect a 30–40% chance of light rain Monday, with temperatures steady in the mid-40s. While no wintry weather is expected this far south, the system’s colder edge could reach the Appalachian foothills, where early December chill and patchy frost return Monday night as lows drop into the mid-20s.

Looking ahead, Tuesday and Wednesday bring sunshine and gradual warming, highs climbing back into the 50s, before a midweek front renews rain chances by Thursday. Long-range models hint at a colder setup from Dec. 11–17, possibly ushering in early holiday chill across the Carolinas and southern Appalachians.
