Charlotte, North Carolina – Temperatures across the Piedmont will soar dangerously high Monday, July 28, with Charlotte facing heat index values near 110°F by afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service, a Heat Advisory remains in effect Monday as triple-digit temps and suffocating humidity grip Mecklenburg County and surrounding areas. The advisory spans northeast Georgia, western North Carolina, and the Upstate of South Carolina, with heat index values peaking between 100°F and 109°F, especially from 2 to 5 p.m. Monday. Light winds will do little to provide relief.

Residents are urged to limit outdoor activity, especially on roads like I-77 and U.S. 74, and check on vulnerable neighbors. Wear light-colored clothing, stay hydrated, and avoid strenuous work in the sun. Heat illness can set in quickly under these conditions.

By late afternoon, scattered thunderstorms may develop, with rain chances rising to 40% after 5 p.m. While rainfall totals are expected to remain light, isolated downpours and gusty winds may cause localized impacts.

More heat and instability persist through midweek, with Tuesday’s highs nearing 97°F and more storms likely in the afternoon. Wednesday remains hot at 96°F, before slight cooling by week’s end.

🌤 Five-Day Forecast for Charlotte (July 28 – August 2):
