New Bern, NC – A strong cold front is expected to sweep through New Bern and the surrounding eastern North Carolina region early Tuesday, bringing cooler temperatures, gusty winds, and the potential for isolated thunderstorms.
According to the National Weather Service in Newport/Morehead City, the front will begin moving through the area late Monday night, with the most noticeable effects arriving by Tuesday morning. Rain chances peak at 30%, accompanied by breezy conditions and possible thunderstorms.
Temperatures will drop sharply behind the front, with highs falling from the low 80s on Monday to the upper 60s by Wednesday. Overnight lows are forecast to dip into the mid-40s midweek—well below seasonal averages for the region. Winds could gust up to 25 mph Tuesday and Wednesday.
The weather service encourages residents to secure loose outdoor items and prepare for sudden changes in temperature. Drivers should use caution during Tuesday morning’s commute due to wet roads and possible low visibility from showers.
Warmer and sunnier conditions are expected to return by Thursday, with highs climbing back to the mid-70s heading into the weekend.
