North Carolina – A Cold Weather Advisory is in place for all of eastern North Carolina tonight, with wind chills expected to fall as low as 7°F.

According to the National Weather Service, the advisory begins at 10 p.m. Monday and lasts through 10 a.m. Tuesday. Temperatures will drop into the teens, with wind chills making it feel like single digits across the region, including along major roadways like US-17 and NC-24. Officials are warning of frostbite and hypothermia risks, urging residents to bundle up and limit time outdoors.

The frigid conditions will give way to slightly warmer weather on Tuesday, though high temperatures will still only reach the mid-30s. Snow showers are possible Tuesday night into Wednesday, particularly near coastal areas, with minimal accumulation expected.

By Wednesday, highs will climb to 33°F, but freezing rain is possible late Thursday into Friday, potentially impacting travel. Residents should stay updated on changing forecasts as icy conditions may disrupt commutes later this week.

Precautions include wearing layered, insulated clothing and avoiding prolonged exposure to the cold. Bring pets indoors and check on vulnerable neighbors.
