Raleigh, NC – North Carolina residents can expect another warm day today, with above-normal temperatures across the state and skies turning sunnier by midday.

According to the National Weather Service Raleigh, low overcast conditions this morning will gradually lift, leading to partly to mostly sunny skies during the afternoon. The forecast shows a wide temperature spread, with highs reaching the upper 70s along the Virginia border, near 80 in central areas, and climbing into the mid- to upper 80s near the South Carolina line.

The weather service notes that this warmth continues a recent trend of above-average temperatures for late September. Typically, average highs across central North Carolina this time of year range from the upper 70s to around 80, but some areas today could exceed those norms by several degrees.

Residents planning outdoor activities later in the day will find conditions improving once the cloud cover lifts. Skies should remain mostly sunny through the afternoon and early evening, making it feel more like summer than the first week of fall.

Looking ahead, forecasters will continue to monitor temperature trends as the region transitions into the autumn season.
