Raleigh, North Carolina – Warm temperatures are peaking just in time for evening plans, but a brief window for isolated storms could disrupt travel between 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. across central North Carolina.
According to the National Weather Service in Raleigh, highs will climb into the low to mid-80s this afternoon across the Triangle, including Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill, with similar warmth extending into the Triad. While most of the day remains dry and sunny, a 20% chance of isolated showers or thunderstorms develops during the early evening hours.
Any storm that forms could bring a quick downpour, lightning, and brief visibility drops below one mile, especially along I-40 and I-85 corridors during peak travel times. Coverage remains limited, meaning many areas will stay dry, but conditions can change quickly where storms develop.
Cities including Greensboro, Winston-Salem, and Fayetteville may also see brief impacts, though rainfall will be hit-or-miss and short-lived.
Residents heading out this evening should keep an umbrella nearby and monitor radar for pop-up storms. Dry and warm conditions return after sunset, with no widespread severe weather expected tonight.
