Raleigh, NC – Today marks the last warm and sunny day in Raleigh as temperatures climb to 81°F. By Monday, a cold front will sweep through, bringing cooler air and ending the region’s streak of unseasonably warm days. Local residents can expect temperatures to drop significantly in the coming week, with highs in the low 60s and lows dipping into the 40s.

According to the National Weather Service, Monday will still be sunny but will feel noticeably cooler, with a high of 76°F. By Tuesday, scattered sprinkles could develop in the afternoon, and temperatures will continue to fall, peaking at just 64°F. Residents should prepare for the chilly conditions to persist through Wednesday and Thursday, with highs of 60°F and 62°F, respectively.

Motorists on I-40 and I-85 should be cautious of gusty winds as the cold front approaches. Nighttime temperatures are expected to drop into the 40s, so residents are advised to dress warmly and check on outdoor plants and pets as the week progresses.

Columbus Day will bring fair skies and temperatures in the mid-70s, offering a pleasant holiday, but the cold front’s arrival by evening will mark a shift in the weather pattern. Scattered sprinkles and a brisk northwest wind are predicted through mid-week. The NWS advises those sensitive to colder weather to bundle up as mornings will see temperatures in the low 40s by Wednesday.
