Raleigh, North Carolina – Scattered thunderstorms and dangerous heat could disrupt summer plans across central North Carolina Saturday afternoon, especially in Raleigh and along I-40.

According to the National Weather Service in Raleigh, showers and thunderstorms may begin after 2 p.m. Saturday, with high temperatures reaching 94°F and heat index values up to 100°F. Winds will stay light, but the combination of heat and humidity increases the risk of heat exhaustion for anyone outdoors. Rain chances sit at 30%, but any storm could bring brief downpours and gusty winds.

Saturday night will remain partly cloudy, with lows near 74°F and only light southwest winds. Sunday brings more of the same: isolated storms after 2 p.m., highs around 95°F, and more oppressive humidity.
