According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, the advisory lasts until 1 a.m. Thursday, with additional minor flooding likely along the lower Cape Fear River through Friday evening. High tide levels could impact waterfront roads and low-lying areas near U.S. Route 421 and Battleship Road. Drivers are urged to avoid flooded roadways and allow extra travel time during peak evening tides.

Friday’s summer heat is also set to intensify. Wilmington is expected to hit a high near 91°F with a heat index potentially reaching 93°F. A slight chance of thunderstorms is forecast after 2 p.m., bringing potential brief downpours but little cooling relief.
