North Carolina – Frost clings to rooftops and grassy fields across Wilmington this morning, with temperatures hovering in the mid-30s and dropping to near 30°F in colder inland spots.

According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, a Freeze Warning remains in effect until 10 a.m., covering coastal and inland communities across southeast North Carolina and parts of northeast South Carolina. Temperatures as low as 30°F are expected, creating conditions that can damage crops and sensitive plants.

Across New Hanover County and surrounding areas, drivers along I-40, US-17, and College Road may encounter patchy frost, especially on bridges and shaded stretches. While widespread ice is not expected, cold pavement can briefly reduce traction. Use caution during early travel and allow extra stopping distance.

Conditions improve quickly late this morning as sunshine breaks through and temperatures rise into the mid-50s. The cold snap fades fast, replaced by a steady warming trend. Thursday brings highs near 62°F with patchy morning frost inland, followed by a stronger push into spring warmth by Friday with highs reaching 68°F under sunny skies.

The weekend delivers a full turnaround. Saturday climbs to around 75°F with mostly sunny skies, while Sunday pushes near 80°F, creating ideal conditions for beaches and increased Spring Break travel. Expect heavier traffic along coastal routes and beach access points.

Looking ahead, mild conditions continue into early next week, though a chance of showers returns by Monday night into Tuesday.

Five Day Outlook for Wilmington, North Carolina:
Thursday: High 62°F – Sunny after early frost
Friday: High 68°F – Sunny and mild
Saturday: High 75°F – Mostly sunny
Sunday: High 80°F – Warm and sunny
Monday: High 77°F – Slight chance of showers
