North Carolina – Sunshine is quickly taking over the Charlotte skyline this afternoon, and temperatures are rising fast toward mid-80s heat that will only intensify in the coming days.

According to the National Weather Service, highs reach near 85°F today under clear skies with light winds. Calm conditions allow the sun to fully warm surfaces, creating a steady climb in temperatures through the afternoon .

Across Charlotte and surrounding communities, including areas along I-77 and I-85, pavement and rooftops are already heating up. Expect a noticeable difference between shaded and sunlit areas as the afternoon progresses. If you’re heading out, plan for warm, dry conditions and increasing sun exposure.

Conditions remain quiet into the evening with mostly clear skies and temperatures dropping into the upper 50s. By Sunday, highs hold near 84°F with similar sunny conditions, offering a consistent spring pattern.

The bigger shift comes early next week. Monday brings slightly cooler highs near 82°F with a few clouds and southwest winds gusting up to 22 mph. After that, the warmth accelerates. Highs reach near 88°F Tuesday and surge to around 91°F by Wednesday, marking the arrival of early summer heat across the region.

Dry weather dominates the entire stretch, with no significant rain chances to ease the warming trend. That means rising pollen levels and increasing fire sensitivity in grassy areas.
