Charlotte, North Carolina – A gradual warmup will push temperatures across North Carolina and South Carolina into the mid-80s by Saturday afternoon, with increasing humidity and scattered storms developing late in the day.

According to the National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center, there is a 60 to 70 percent probability of above-normal temperatures across the Carolinas through early next week. While not as extreme as areas farther west, both states will still see noticeable warming, especially across interior regions.

Charlotte is expected to reach the low to mid-80s between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Saturday, with similar conditions extending south along the I-77 and I-85 corridors into Columbia. Raleigh and Greensboro will also climb into the 80s, while coastal areas such as Wilmington and Myrtle Beach remain slightly cooler due to onshore flow.

By late afternoon into the evening, increasing Atlantic and Gulf moisture will trigger scattered showers and thunderstorms. Storms may produce brief heavy rain, lightning, and wind gusts over 35 mph, especially along I-85 and I-95, which could impact travel.

Residents should stay hydrated, plan outdoor activities earlier in the day, and remain alert for changing weather during the evening hours. This pattern will persist through the weekend into early next week, with additional advisories possible as temperatures and storm chances fluctuate.
