Davidson County, NC – Detectives with the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office have announced additional charges in a child sexual abuse investigation that began in late August.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the case began on August 25, 2025, when deputies received a report of child sexual abuse at a residence on Anderson Street in Denton, North Carolina, as well as at other nearby locations.

Detectives identified Jeremy Lanning Amburn, 43, as the primary suspect, and his wife Angela Carpenter Amburn, 40, was allegedly aware of and facilitated the abuse. Both were arrested on September 12, 2025, on multiple sexual assault and abuse charges.

As the investigation continued, authorities say they discovered numerous explicit images on electronic devices seized during a search of Amburn’s home and business. Based on the new findings, the Davidson County District Attorney’s Office filed three additional counts of first-degree sexual exploitation of a minor and four counts of third-degree exploitation.

Amburn was re-arrested on October 16, 2025, while in custody at the Davidson County Detention Center, where he was already being held under a $5 million bond. He received an additional $100,000 bond for the new charges. A court appearance is scheduled for December 2, 2025, in Lexington District Court.

The Sheriff’s Office stated that, due to the sensitive nature of the case, no further details are being released at this time. Anyone with information about the alleged abuse involving Jeremy and Angela Amburn is urged to contact DCSO Detective Hall at 336-242-2120.
