Asheboro, NC – A Trinity man was arrested Friday following a child exploitation investigation by the Invictus Task Force.
According to the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office, investigators identified 44-year-old Christopher John Tuft as a suspect earlier this month after receiving a CyberTip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Authorities executed a search warrant on Friday, taking Tuft into custody.
Deputies said Tuft was charged with one count of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor. He was booked into the Randolph County Detention Center, where a magistrate issued a $75,000 secured bond. Court records show Tuft’s first appearance in Randolph County District Court is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 2.
The Invictus Task Force is a multi-agency collaboration involving law enforcement from Randolph, Alamance, Davidson, and Forsyth counties, as well as the State Bureau of Investigation and Homeland Security. The unit focuses on internet crimes against children, sexual abuse, trafficking, and exploitation.
Officials said the investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Invictus Task Force.
The sheriff’s office also reminded the public that if someone believes they or someone they know may be a victim of child exploitation or trafficking, they can call the national hotline at 1-888-373-7888 or text “HELP” to 233733 for 24/7 assistance.
