CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Haunted house season has arrived, and thrill seekers across North Carolina have plenty of options to get their scare fix. From massive indoor haunts to wooded trails, here are five of the state’s top attractions this October.
Bugle Boy Farm’s Haunted House (Summerfield)
Guests can choose from a haunted house featuring five experiences or a haunted trail ride. The attraction is open every Friday and Saturday from Oct. 17 through Nov. 1. Admission is $20 for both the house and trail, $15 for the house only, and $5 for just the trail ride.
Aberdeen Fear Factory (Aberdeen)
Now in its 14th year, this indoor haunt is open Oct. 3-4 and every Thursday through Saturday through Nov. 1. Ticket prices range from $22 to $63, depending on packages, and can be purchased online.
Scream Dreams Haunted House (Thomasville)
At 31,000 square feet, this is the largest haunted house in the Carolinas. With 50 themed rooms, guests can expect an extensive scare. General admission is $35 before 7 p.m. and $39 after. The house is open every weekend in October beginning Oct. 3 through Nov. 1.
Lake Hickory Haunts (Hickory)
Built in a former factory, this destination offers 13 different attractions, including Descent, Chop Shop, Extinction 2.0, Aquaphobia and Lair of the Undead. It operates every Friday and Saturday in October, along with select Thursdays and Sundays. General admission starts at $41 and tickets are available online.
The 13th Acre (Monroe)
This outdoor attraction features two scares: Coffin Creek and The Forbidden Acre. General admission is $35. It is open Oct. 3-4 and every Friday through Sunday through November.
